After 3 years in Quito, Ecuador, I've crossed the great pond again and this time I'm to reside in Algiers, Algeria. I'm stuck at home in self-quarantine for one more week. But my residence is a very comfortable 3 bedroom apartment located in the middle of El-Biar, a bustling neighborhood.
Lucia survived the daunting flights with her usual protests. We had to layover in Paris along the way. Even though it's the start of the cooler season, it was still very hot for her to undergo the plane transfers. I'm so thankful she made it without any prolonged after effects.
A few observations, the city streets are very busy during the work week. The narrowness of the sidewalks necessitates more awareness from both drivers and pedestrians. But it's a welcomed site to see so many shops within just a short walk out my door. I'm looking forward to the option of just walking to work at the Embassy even with the occasional sidewalk limitation.
